Book Review

The Servant King: Reading The Bible Today - Mark by Paul Barnett (Aquila 2006).

This book is one of a series of non-technical commentaries by renowned Christian scholars, "The Servant King: Reading The Bible Today - Mark" highlights the important themes of Mark and brings it alive to a modern audience. It is helpful to read a section at a time while studying Mark, or equally satisfying to just devour it cover to cover.

Bishop Barnett has led many tours of the Holy Land over the years and his familiarity with the geography, language and culture at the time of Jesus gives a freshness to this 2000 year old text, leaving us with a commentary that is hard to put down.

I have owned a copy of this book since I was at University (the 1991 version) and I have read it over and over again. It is exciting to see it has just been re-released.
